My name is Peer Cox, I am a #fashiondesigner and I want to inspire you to think twice before you throw away your clothes. I take mostly vintage or old clothes and make tutorial style #diyfashion videos. I do sewing projects, try new and traditional (fabric manipulation) techniques and do all kinds of other vintage clothing transformations at home. These transformations are called thrift flip on social media. Some outfits will be ready to wear but there will also be high fashion almost couture looks and everything in between. We take trends from the runway, instagram and tiktok and create a sustainable version in the comfort of our own home. I would love for people to get inspired and do their own interpretation! So please tag me on instagram and #fashionrec for your most exciting upcycling projects (or other projects inspired by my channel). Or send me the pictures because I would love to see it. Also if you have any ideas for my videos, let me know in the comments. I read them all! So if you are into fabric manipulation, #sewing, #redesign or upcycled fashion make sure to subscribe and also follow me on instagram because I upload a lot of stuff there that you won\'t find here. Let\'s make upcycling great again and inspire each other with our Do it Yourself projects! Learn how to sew facing on the right way and make it look professional. Upcycling or not, knowing how to sew on a facing profesionally is a must for everyone who loves to sew. When you cut out your facing and you do have a legit pattern, make sure to make little markings or cuts in the seam allowance to have a reference of how to lay the facing on the fabric. Often times there will be a cut in the middle front, middle back and or at the shoulder seams. Than just pin the facing on with the pins horizontally, than sew over it on a normal 1 cm - 3/8 inch seam allowance. On the places where the seam is round you can now make some little horizontal cuts toward the stitches / seam. Do not cut all the way to the seam but stop about 2 mm / 5/64 inch from the thread. You can make as many cuts as necessery, but you can always make more cuts after you have sewn the understitch. The understitching is gonna make sure that the facing is staying nicely folded inside and does not show up from the outside. The under stitch has to be done over the facing and the seam allowance, so it will not be visible on the outside of the garment. It is a must for all facings, like in necklines, armholes, pockets but also on a blazer. The understitch is about 2 mm from the first stitch, and follows the whole length of the facing. You might have to stretch the fabric a little bit out sidewards to make sure that everything is lying flat and to ensure that the seam allowance is not flipping to the other side. Once you are done with the under stitch you can check if the facing now stays folded in nicely. If this is not the case you can make some more horizontal cuts, or you can shorten the seam allowance, but keep about 2 mm to make sure that the facing will be fixated on the garment permanently. After the cutting you can press your fabric and now the result should be super clean and professional. I hope your sewing project is gonna be a great success after watching my tutorial.
