'This video from Pottery Barn is all about learning how to make the classic cocktail, rye old-fashioned. We meet Filip, a mixologist from San Francisco to learn about mixing this drink. To make a rye old-fashioned, you\'ll need: rye whiskey, bitters, simple syrup as well as orange peel and brandied cherries for garnish. First, pour half an ounce of simple syrup into the glass directly. This classic cocktail is mixed directly in the glass. Add two ounces of rye whiskey and splash two dashes of bitters in the glass along with it. Finally, add a large ice cube in the glass so it doesn\'t melt too quickly, diluting this classic cocktail. Stir the drink with a stirring spoon for about a minute and the rye old-fashioned is almost done. For garnishing, add the brandied cherry. Peel an orange with a vegetable peeler and twist the peel over the drink till the oils express into the drink. Run the peel around the rim of the glass for added flavor. Finally, twist the peel and drop it into the glass for garnish.
