'I am singing a pop-rock song from the 1971 album entitled \"Harmony\" by the pop-rock group, \"Three Dog Night.\" It was the band\'s 7th top ten hit and the first record for the group to top the U.S. Easy Listening Adult Contemporary Chart. On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart it peaked at #4 in the U.S. and #2 on the Canadian Charts. The song was composed and written by Paul Williams, who offered it first to The Carpenters as they were in the middle of a string of hits (including 2 of Williams\' own compositions: \"We\'ve Only Just Begun\" and \"Rainy Days and Mondays\"), and although the song was written specifically for The Carpenters, Richard Carpenter rejected it. So-o-o-o Williams offered the song to Three Dog Night. The Carpenters never recorded it, but they did perform it live on television with Carol Burnett a few months later. Also, Paul Williams recorded his own song, and Andy Williams was another artist of prominence to record it. The lyrics are straightforward and the melodic nature of the tune make this a memorable classic hit to give another listen. I hope you will enjoy this walk down memory lane, and I truly thank you for listening. Hopefully, the Easter Bunny left you with lots of Spirit for the days ahead . . .Thank you, Martha/MrsFlashback'
