'(10 Sep 2019) Vietnamese designer Nguyen Cong Tri is a rising star among celebrities, thanks in large part to the dress he designed for Beyonce at the world premiere of \"The Lion King.\" The crimped yellow gown had a waist-high slit on one side, draped details and an asymmetrical neckline. Cong Tri has designed for other celebrities including Rihanna, Katy Perry and Sophie Turner, but the look for Beyonce has put him on another level of recognition. \"It gets a great impact on my career and lots of attention from that moment and I feel like I got very lucky and honored that celebrities pick my designs,\" said the designer Monday (9 SEPT. 2019) after his runway show at New York Fashion Week. \"After that I get more ideas to design for other celebrities and in the future I have tons of ideas flowing through my mind right now.\" Cong Tri is the first Vietnamese designer to show at New York Fashion Week. His spring-summer 2020 collection is inspired by morning dew welcoming a new day. Model Elsa Hosk opened and closed the show. Cong Tri featured gowns with drapes and trains in colors varying from black and white to hot pink, aqua blue and purple. He also used dramatic shoulder pads and a variety of necklines. Models also strutted the catwalk in his swimwear collection.
