'Burkinabe striped and ikat fabric was the star of Stella Jean’s Spring-Summer 2016 Menswear collection. These fabrics are hand-woven by women weavers in Burkina Faso that are part of the Ethical Fashion Initiative’s artisan network. This season’s Stella Jean man lives in the Chelsea hotel and takes upon himself the craftsmanship of Burkina Faso which expands his reality to encompass the extremes of the globe in a geographical and anthropological way. Stella Jean’s collections continue to reflect her strong partnership with the Ethical Fashion Initiative, using fabric hand-woven by artisans in Burkina Faso and Mali and also working with artisans in Haiti. Together with Stella Jean, the Ethical Fashion Initiative continues to build a more responsible fashion industry that takes in to account its handprint (people) and footprint (environment).
